After delivery, manufacturers need information about installation, maintenance and product condition to answer technical enquiries and assess claims. CMiD allows authorised customers and project partners to retrieve component documentation and contribute these updates through mobile scans. Technical specifications, certificates or a Digital Product Passport (DPP) as made mandatory by the EU Construction Products Regulation (newCPR) can be made available through the same material identity.

This two-way exchange gives manufacturers access to documented information from use alongside the original manufacturing records. A reported defect, a subsequent inspection and a maintenance activity can be associated with the same component, providing context for customer support and quality investigations.

Manufacturers organising product returns need to establish which components they receive and what is known about them. CMiD provides a consistent reference for linking returned products to their records across take-back, material leasing and Product-as-a-Service arrangements.

Material leasing & Buy-Back Models

Registered components can be identified and assessed using their production records, previous inspections and documented use. This information helps manufacturers determine further inspection needs and plan refurbishment. The available records support decisions about buy-back and preparation for reuse.

Product-as-a-Service

For leased components, the same identity connects delivery, maintenance and return records to the individual element. Manufacturers can identify their products on return and review the documented service history. This supports the management of components across successive customers, service agreements and leasing periods.
